Blending Yoga Instruction with Heartfelt Energy

Experience

Certifications:

When I was six years old, I started modern dance, which became my passion for expressing myself. I continued to study until young adulthood. Little did I know that dance was the seed for my love of yoga and the understanding between breath, movement, and an inner sense of contentment.

After I completed college, my career in healthcare public relations took off, and the more I advanced in the corporate world, the more my stress level increased. Not having time to dance, I scheduled yoga retreats every time I had a vacation and soon started taking weekly yoga classes as a refuge and a way to help reduce my stress. I soon realized I wanted to become a yoga instructor to share my love of yoga with others.

During this time, I also watched my grandmother age and my mother struggle with a debilitating disease. I encouraged them to try yoga classes and saw the benefits right away. They gained a sense of vitality and moved with less pain. This is what sparked my interest in teaching yoga as a healing practice.

In New York City, I provided private yoga therapy sessions and taught private and group yoga classes at companies, health clubs, and a physical therapy clinic. At the PT clinic, I realized that my favorite class was the Gentle and Chair Yoga classes I taught for seniors and those recovering from surgical procedures and injuries. There, the healing power of yoga became vividly clear. I witnessed significant improvements in my students' strength, stability, posture, and self-confidence. This secured my passion and commitment to teaching yoga to all populations, especially older adults.

Before the Covid pandemic, I taught yoga classes at numerous senior homes in the Bay Area. My classes included Chair and Gentle Yoga Fit for residents who wanted a vigorous workout with cardio and weights. I also taught Yoga, Movement, and Music to residents living in memory care facilities. With social distancing, I moved to teaching classes online through Zoom classes.

What makes yoga special is that it creates a sense of community, bringing together people who embrace self-growth and spiritual awakening. If practicing yoga by yourself is preferred, private classes offer a special treat just for yourself. This is what Yoga to Help Heal offers.
